GM first-quarter U.S. automobile gross sales fall 1.5%

DETROIT – General Motors on Tuesday reported a 1.5% decline in first quarter U.S. automobile gross sales in comparison with a 12 months in the past, as the general auto trade normalizes after years of disruptions and unstable outcomes.

The Detroit automaker stated the decline to 594,233 automobiles bought throughout the first three months of the 12 months was largely as a consequence of a 22.9% year-over-year decline in gross sales to fleet prospects. Retail gross sales to prospects had been up 6%, GM stated.

Gross sales of GM’s all-electric automobiles, intently watched by Wall Avenue, remained miniscule throughout the first quarter. EV gross sales had been 16,425 items, or 2.8% of the automaker’s total gross sales throughout the interval.
