The IRS on Monday introduced it’s going to cease utilizing a controversial third-party service for facial recognition to confirm id for on-line accounts.

The transfer comes amid bipartisan backlash over the gathering of biometric information via video selfies for account authorization. ID.me, an id verification firm, was contracted by the Treasury Division to enhance taxpayer account safety.
